January Hymn (pt. ii)

Happy New Year y’all! All’s well in our camp. Spent a good bit of time these past few weeks working on the Malian documentary film associated with Dugu Wolo, my Mande record released this past year. I’ll be plugging away for some time yet and will keep you posted on any film news.

Got a few shows in GA this month, including a performance of the Malian material and opening for one of my favorite songwriters (check him out), Jonathan Byrd.

MON JAN 14thMelting Point– Athens, GA (8pm)
The Hoot w/ Jason Kenney (of The Kenney-Blackmon String Band) on mandolin/banjo

THURS JAN 17thGreen Room– Athens, GA (7pm)
Free Happy hour show w/ band, playing Dugu Wolo under Malian name Lassine Kouyate

FRI JAN 25thHendershot’s Coffee– Athens, GA (8pm)

In other news, recorded a few songs recently at Atlanta’s 800 East studio with the talented Ben Holst engineering and the wonderful Megan McCormick (The Everybodyfields) on acoustic and electric guitars. Look for them as bonus tracks in connection with the upcoming release of Sky Blue DeVille.

Thanks for stopping by,
